USTA Southern crowned 11 champions at the 2019 USTA League Adult 18 & Over Southern Sectional Championships, played July 19-22.

The annual championships were played at the Copeland-Cox Mobile Tennis Center (tournament headquarters). There were over 100 men’s and women’s teams with more than 1,000 players from nine states.

Atlanta won three of its four finals for Georgia. Louisiana had the most teams in the finals, splitting six appearances. Baton Rouge also split its four finals. Knoxville, Tenn., was well represented, taking two of its three finals. Captain Lisa Huffman, of Knoxville, had a winner and a finalist in different levels.

In years past, teams played round robins to determine two finalists. Starting this year, teams from most levels played to determine semifinalists, giving more teams a chance to win a Southern championship.
