Mississippi Tops Combo Doubles Championships

Mississippi had s strong showing with three champions and seven finalists in the 2021 Combo Doubles Southern Sectional Championships played Dec. 3-5 in Mobile, AL.
North Carolina led the competition with five champions and also had two runners-up. Louisiana finished with four winners and two finalists.
Charlotte, NC, scored with two champions and one runner-up while Ridgeland, MS, had three finalists. Baton Rouge, LA; Jackson, MS and the Sequoyah area of northwest Georgia had two winners each.
The weekend event featured 163 men’s and women’s teams with 1,545 players from nine states competing in three age levels: 18 & Over (10 divisions), 40 & Over (seven divisions) and 55 & Over (six divisions). The tournament was presented by USTA Southern in cooperation with strong local volunteer support.
The Copeland-Cox Mobile Tennis Center served as tournament headquarters. Other matches were played at the Country Club of Mobile, Oakwood Swim & Racquet Club and Mirror Lake Racquet Club.
