USTA Southern crowned six champions at the 2017 55 & Over Combo Doubles Southern Sectional Championships, played March 2-4.
North Carolina and Louisiana finished with two champions each. North Carolina also had a finalist. South Carolina had a champion and two finalists.
The weekend event featured 58 men’s and women’s teams with nearly 600 players from nine states competing in three levels. The Yarbrough Tennis Center served as tournament headquarters. Other matches were played at Moore’s Mill Club Fitness Center, along with the Grand National Marriott Resort in Opelika, Ala.
Southern Combo 18 & Over and 40 & Over teams will compete March 9-12 in Mobile, Ala. More than 1,500 players are scheduled to play.
